Eligibility for Semester-Long Study

Applicants must be currently enrolled in an educational institution and have completed at least one full semester of undergraduate study.

Applicants must not have completed their undergraduate degree before arriving at UVA.

Applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing at their home institution with a minimum GPA equivalent of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
English Language Proficiency

English is the language of instruction at the University of Virginia. If your first language is not English and the language of instruction at your home institution is not English, an ibt TOEFL score of at least 100 or IELTS score of 7 or higher is required.
How to Apply
- Complete the Non-Degree Student Form and send an e-mail to issp@virginia.edu confirming your interest in the semester-long study.
- Submit an official transcript or record of college-level work completed at your home institution and a letter of recommendation, in English, completed by your academic advisor or instructor, attesting to your academic abilities and emotional maturity.
