CPT NOTICE

Effective immediately, UVA is suspending the authorization of non-required, course-credit CPT requests. This includes opportunities tied to academic credit, which are integral to the program of study but not required for degree completion. Duration of Status & Academic Mobility

On September 14, 2026, a nationwide preliminary injunction was issued, which blocks the Elimination of Duration of Status rule from taking effect and prohibits DHS and USCIS from implementing it. The government is expected to appeal the injunction. Please continue to monitor our FAQ page, which we will continue to update with any developments as the case continues.

Adrienne Kim Bird

Associate Director, International Students & Scholars Program

Adrienne has been steeped in international education from birth. Her father came to the U.S. as an international student from Korea. She married an international student from the U.K. She studied abroad and led study abroad programs in France and Russia. Her BA from Dartmouth and PhD from Columbia were in Russian Language & Literature. Having personally experienced the transformational power of a global education, she loves being able to help facilitate the experience for others.
